Welcome to Sponsor A Horse where caring people like you make it possible for us to continue rescuing and rehabilitating neglected, abused, and abandoned horses. If we work together as a team we can save more horses than if we were all working individually.

Video shows how to clip a horse without distressing the animal. Clipping is useful when it gets colder in the autumn and winter and you ride your horse, making them hot and possibly sweaty, they can sometimes get a chill when you get off them. By getting rid of longer coat hair they dry off quicker preventing them from getting a chill.
Just like an athlete or sportsperson, a horse in work can develop areas of soreness. With our horses here at River Valley, we have found that because of the hill country we ride over, our horses are very strong in the back (arse) end, but can often get sore around the shoulders. Much of this is from inexperienced riders putting too much weight on the front of the horse riding downhill. In this video we watch a horse chiropractor realigning a number of our horses. The horses feel so good afterwards, that they will often follow him around the year with a happy glazed look on their faces. For more info – http://www.rivervalley.co.nz
